If you have an existing fireplace and would like a quick, easy means of having the ambience of a "fire", then consider an electric log or coal basket.

They merely set a mood, but are also easily removed; if you have a functioning fireplace and decide to have a real fire burning, just unplug these logs and load up the fireplace.
