These old photos are a great source for architectural reference and dimensions, as noted in the original catalog. We do not offer these for sale - these are photos for reference only!

KING MANTEL NO. 529
This coal burning fireplace design shows an oak mantel with mirrored overmantel, offered in a Mahogany finish. Note that these ceramic tiles were offered in a variety of muted, mottled colors. The manufacturer of the tiles has been out of business, we're told, since the 1970's. These tiles are quite difficult to replace, as they were originally supplied as shown in the photo above already installed onto a board that was installed as the fireplace was built; this allowed simplicity in tile installation because one board with the tiles preattached was installed, rather than having to lay the tiles individually. Also shown above are the antique surround with a summer cover installed.

KING MANTEL NO. 530
Coal burning fireplace design; similar to #529, and shows the fireplace without the summer cover door. Inside the fireplace opening, the coal grate hung from hooks on the cast iron surround and an ash cover was set at the bottom to help obscure the dirty ashes from view, and to help somewhat to keep ashes from blowing onto the floor when the chimney downdrafted into the room.

KING MANTEL NO. 512
Wood burning fireplace design. Note the larger opening to accommodate logs.

KING MANTEL NO. 523
