The chimney cap at left started life with a protective roof lid to help keep rain and water out of the chimney, but the roof lid has long since rusted completely away. This is why we don't sell galvanized black chimney caps - they simply don't last and won't save money in the long run. A stainless steel or copper chimney cap won't rust out and provides a lifetime warranty.
