Decorating Tips
 
Pictured at left is one great example of staging a fireplace mantel to enhance your room's decor. The taller item - the lovely mantel clock - is placed in the center, a round item has been placed on either end, and the space between uses rectangularly shaped items placed at an angle. This example also shows how you can mix items made of assorted metal finishes by balancing their shape and scale on the canvas created by the mantel shelf. The vertically rectangular portrait frame also heightens the overall scale of the mantel presentation (which helps to balance a small fireplace in a large room) as is often the case with period homes.
